Newfoundland strawberry harvest lowest in decades

August 17, 2012, Deer Lake, Nfld — Those looking for fresh-grown strawberries in Newfoundland were sorely disappointed this year, as a combination of dry weather and a bad winter made for some of the worst conditions in decades.

Two weeks was the maximum amount of time Newfoundland farmers had this summer, if that, and one farmer reported not getting any strawberries at all. READ MORE
